A drive-by shooting leaves a 10-year-old boy shot, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the shooter and vehicle involved.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m., Thursday, March 21, near the 300 block of Northwest 18th Avenue in Pompano Beach.
Surveillance video of the crime shows the victim dribbling a basketball while crossing the street. As the child bounces the ball, another subject wearing a green hoodie and long black pants enters the frame riding a scooter. A few seconds later, a gray sedan drives by, and shots are fired.
In the video, you see the scooter rider drop to the ground, as the 10-year-old boy takes off running. The vehicle turns north and flees the scene.
BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. Paramedics transported the 10-year-old child to a nearby hospital with injuries listed as not life-threatening. According to investigators, no other injuries were reported.
