Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach, Fl- The City of Deerfield Beach last year I would say was just nickel and diming Deerfield-News.com because the Mayor asked staff to do it.
The public and bloggers or anyone else should not be charged excessive fees nor nickel and dimed for spite by the city or state.
Remember folks we are requesting records about our water treatment plant, the plumbing scandal and the city not screening coaches who raped, of sexual offenders or people with criminal records who coach your children. Also who has come in and out of water treatment plant and what DHS security clearances they have.
I for one think Mayor is starting to step over the bounds of “abuse of power” stay tuned for more on that and what and who exactly mayor has been talking to and about or emailing that crosses the legal line.Who has the mayor instructed to bust our balls as a result of us bringing to light with other bloggers the truth about what the water treatment plants condition is? The truth about Mayor Ganz using his power to instruct city employees to treat us different than others in the media. Sending out inspectors to take pictures, really? I rent a Mail Box it is a mailing address for SEO purposes for our website. Certainly with all the money the city spends on SEO and SEM and having that knowledge you understand that.I do not believe in coincidences, you are a public official you should know better!
We can and will send our Digital Media Specialist and we will, inside city hall in the lobby and from outside in the sidewalk on every Friday when you slackers are cutting out early on the taxpayers’ dime. Consider this another public records request for all the fees collected for Public Records Requests in 2017.
We will be watching everything this Mayor and Commission do and you will not for certain infringe on my First Amendment Rights! Freedom of The Press and any infringement thereof made by our Mayor and employees will be dealt with in court if necessary.
We are starting to educate some city employees to use the Whistleblower Laws and let the Truth Be Known.
Mayor careful what and who you are talking to, some of them are not your friends and they make good sources.
Above is a youtube video and below a
Report from Deerfield Beach Politics-Also email from State of Florida Department of Health’s counsel which also touches on the subject of fees for Public records request.
Resident gets BIG invoice for DFB Stormwater Inquiry
Stormwater Tax with No Evidence
When a Deerfield Beach resident’s wife heard, in the December 2017 Commission meeting, that a possible new Stormwater Tax was going to be imposed by Mayor Ganz and City Manager Burgess Hanson, she realized this can become another burden on an already tight budget. Knowing her and her husband are on a fixed income, she quickly told her husband. After watching the commission meeting online and hearing the presentation on the new Deerfield Beach proposed “Stormwater Tax”, this resident decided to investigate if our sewerage systems are as bad as Ft. Lauderdale and if our drainage system was not being already covered by our current taxes.
This resident put in a Public Records Request to the City of Deerfield Beach, thinking since the City of Deerfield Beach is proposing this new Tax, an analysis with all the documentation would have been done before this commission meeting. What he got from the City was a huge Invoice for $867.00 to see the information.
Since this resident and his wife can not afford that much money, this resident has sent the information to us at Deerfield Beach Politics, and a few other news organizations to see if we wanted to follow up.
What stands out was the hypocrisy of Mayor Bill Ganz, talking about how it used to cost $40 to get information before he became a Commissioner.
We guess inflation by Ganz has gone up, since the cost is now $867.00. See video above. Cities are known to make Public Records Request financially unfeasible to common residents if it is trying to protect certain self-interests. We believe this is what the city might be doing and are willing to take on the investigation fully for the resident.
