Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives arrested the man they say is responsible for a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Deerfield Beach.

At approximately 10:22 a.m. on Nov. 23, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a shooting near the 200 block of Northwest Second Way in Deerfield Beach. BSO Deerfield Beach District deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded.

On scene, BSO deputies located Leotis James Breedlove Jr. outside a residence suffering from several gunshot wounds. Investigators learned the shooter fled the scene after the shooting. Paramedics transported Breedlove Jr. to Broward Health North where he was later pronounced deceased. BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives were notified and responded to the scene to investigate.

Through investigative methods, BSO detectives with the Threat Intervention Tactics Analytics Network (T.I.T.A.N.) located the suspect, Jarvis Chinn, near the 200 block of Northwest 30th Avenue in Pompano Beach and took him into custody.

Chinn was transported to Broward County Main Jail. At this time, Chinn faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm. This investigation is ongoing.
