It only took a few minutes for an opportunistic robber to snatch an expensive watch from the hand of a store clerk at a Deerfield Beach jeweler. Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives are investigating.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, an unidentified man walked into Class Jewelers in Deerfield Beach 30 minutes before closing time. He asked to see a Rolex Datejust two-toned watch with diamonds on the faceplate valued at almost $4,000 which was exhibited in the store’s display window.
The man spoke with the clerk for only a few minutes while handling the watch. He then handed the watch back and walked towards the front door. He abruptly stopped by the door, turned back towards the clerk and snatched the watch from her hands. The thief ran from the store and headed north through the parking lot.
Detectives are searching for a man with a medium complexion, possibly Hispanic, with a heavy build and approximately 5’8” tall. He had close-cropped hair and wore a grey shirt, dark shorts, white socks and dark shoes.
