Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach, Fl- Updated 3-13-2023-Since the end of their lease extension in October of 2023  rent has not been paid to the city of Deerfield Beach  since November by the holdover tenant Class Act Restaurant Group.

The city and the holdover tenant are currently battling over both the rent and eviction in Broward County Circuit Court.

Below is a statement from the city of Deerfield Beach regarding the situation.

“A Court hearing is pending on motions to determine the rent amount due to be paid into the court registry while the litigation, including the City’s eviction action against the tenant, takes its course. Class Act Restaurant Group has made no attempt to pay rent as it is required to do by statute. As you know, Class Act Restaurant Group, LLC, has continued to occupy the premises even though their lease with the City expired on October 27, 2023. The City asserts that the Class Act Restaurant Group, LLC, owes $57,672.14 for every month Class Act has wrongfully held over its tenancy after the date its Lease expired. The City has diligently pursued hearing dates from the court, despite opposition from Class Act, and is waiting to hear back from the Court on a date that the hearing on the motions to determine rent will take place.”
