Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-The following was posted on our Facebook group page by candidate for Broward Sheriff David Howard. The first sentence is of concern as I do not believe the Sheriff has the right to ban a candidate or anyone else from the BSO social media pages unless there is a violation of TOS of that platform. We will contact BSO Media Relations for a “CLARIFICATION”.
THE BELOW POST IS FROM DAVID HOWARD-
Tony won’t let you comment on his page or the BSO page across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X) because he doesn’t want to be asked the hard hitting questions, like:
1. Why is the training center $9.5 MILLION over budget?
2. Why did BSO spend time and money to change the BSO insignia to reflect “Sheriff Dr.,” when there are huge issues facing the agency that require your focus?
3. Why didn’t BSO or Tony himself acknowledge on their social media pages the passing of a deputy and father to suicide a few weeks ago? Tony, his name is Andrew Rodriguez and he served with BSO for 16 years! It’s not too late to publicly acknowledge his passing instead of another self gratifying post about you. Take this as an opportunity to learn what your deputies need to address mental health crisis going forward.
4. Why didn’t BSO or Tony himself acknowledge on their social media pages the passing of a deputy and father in a motorcycle accident on July 4th? Tony, his name is Anthony Zahorovsky and he was not only a deputy but an Army veteran. It’s not too late to publicly acknowledge his passing instead of another self gratifying post about you.
5. Why does it take more than 6 months to receive a response to a public records request from BSO? What is he hiding? I’ve been waiting 191 days for mine…
6. Why aren’t the crime stats for each district easily accessible through the BSO website? What is he hiding?
7. Why is there little traffic enforcement in Broward County when traffic fatalities and incidents are so high?
8. Why are the jails negligently understaffed?
9. Why are BSO deputies the lowest paid in Broward County?
10. Why are corrections deputies paid significantly less than other deputies and other agencies?
11. Why won’t Tony debate me on the issues before the primary on August 20th?
