Florida statutes on public records requests are clear, the number of deaths in a nursing home whether it is employees or patients is not protected under the exemptions in the statute. Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis is denying the press and the public access to public records during a pandemic is wrong. Several members of the media from the MiamiHherald to local tv stations and Deerfield -News.com have requested the records and are legally entitled to them.
