Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach, FL-In what is a settled matter since January 20, 2026 Sheriff Tony continues his smear campaign against the city of Deerfield Beach.The Sheriff, who by his own words says he is “The Most Powerful Man In Broward,” would better serve all county residents, especially those in Deerfield Beach, by just doing his job to Protect and Serve.
Instead, Sheriff Tony, who Governor Ron DeSantis originally appointed to replace then-Sheriff Israel, has launched a daily smear campaign attacking Deerfield Beach leaders.
The Mayor and City Commissioners voted on January 20th to part ways with BSO. This was as a result of Sheriff Tony failing to honor the contract between BSO and Deerfield Beach for Police and Fire services.
Deerfield Beach is well on its way to forming its own Police and Fire departments. The city already has a Transitional Police Chief and Fire Chief.
The city is holding regular meetings with citizens to discuss the transition and receive input from the community.
All of the social media scare tactics posts Sheriff Tony is publishing will change nothing. Deerfield Beach has made its decision. That decision is to reform our own Police and Fire Departments, just like our neighbors in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Delray Beach, Lighthouse Point, and Fort Lauderdale have.
