The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a man struck by a train on Monday night in Deerfield Beach.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a crash involving a Brightline train in the area of West Hillsboro Boulevard and Dixie Highway. The preliminary investigation reveals that a male subject was walking westbound on the sidewalk, attempting to cross the east set of railroad tracks when he was struck by a train. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to investigate the circumstances of the incident. According to detectives, the safety equipment was working properly during the on-scene investigation.

Almost 200 deaths have occurred between Brightline Trains here in Florida. I hope more safety features will be added to reduce future deaths, like Real time Video cameras like those on I-95 and the Florida Turnpike and sensors at all Grade crossings.
