The National Weather Service (NWS) has released its predictions for the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, forecasting an active season with a higher-than-average number of storms. The season, which officially begins on June 1 and runs through November 30, is expected to bring 14 to 18 named storms, with 7 to 9 of these potentially developing into hurricanes. Of these hurricanes, 2 to 4 could become major hurricanes, classified as Category 3 or higher with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.
