BROWARD COUNTY MAN SAYS 18 DEPUTIES STAYED AWAY FROM HIS HOME DURING BREAK IN

Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-In what may be the biggest display of Deputies failing to respond since the Parkland School shooting.A Broward County resident who is disabled and uses a cane. Seventy-year-old Bill Norkunas saw something on November7 as he stepped from the shower it was a stranger trying to break into his home. The resident and neighbors had called 911 Norkunas was on the line with 911 for minutes and minutes apparently at least seven while deputies were nearby. Norkunas saw squad cars arriving, without deputies coming to his aid.  There were 18 BSO deputies dispatched to the scene and none went to Norkunas’ house.He was pleading with the 911 dispatcher. Neighbors also had flooded BSO with calls as the suspect who was caught as he walked into the BSO perimeter set up down the block

BSO has released the following statement.Deerfield-News.com has requested the incident report and 911 tapes.

Within days of the incident in Tamarac, the Broward Sheriff’s Office began a thorough review into how the deputies on scene handled the response to this fluid and rapidly evolving situation. The review into this incident is ongoing.

“The Broward Sheriff’s Office responds to tens of thousands of calls for service each year. The vast majority of these calls are handled appropriately with satisfactory outcomes. (The Broward Sheriff’s Office) constantly reviews and assesses its responses to emergency calls in order to provide the highest level of service to the public.”
