Deerfield-New. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-One of our pet peeves has been the city spends so much money on so many things, yet appears to neglect the beach. Those who read our blog know we have pushed for Deerfield beach to settle with Kristina Clothier and resolve that issue. Another long-standing problem is our beach rake. The system we have is not state of the art. The beach is riddled with cigarette butts and other debris. In many cases, our rake redeposits this debris pulverized back into the sand. The last time I was on the beach it was pretty shocking if you scooped up some sand the crap that you would find in it. We have brought this to the attention of the city. They have not denied they know there is an issue, but claim it is not in the budget. Our suggestion is to make sure it is included in the budget and knock off the small talk. This cities greatest asset is our beach, it should always be a top priority when it comes to maintaining it.
