Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives have made an arrest in the July death of a 2-year-old boy found dead inside a daycare transport van.
This morning (9/6/19), investigators arrested 46-year-old Engrid Thurston at her home in Lauderhill to face one count of aggravated manslaughter.
Around 3:30 p.m. July 29, BSO Regional Communications received the call asking for medical assistance at the Ceressa Enrichment & Empowerment Academy located at 3140 N.W. 21st Ave. in Oakland Park. When BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue arrived, they confirmed the toddler was deceased.
Through the investigation, detectives confirmed Noah Sneed had been picked up to be transported to the facility at 9:02 that morning. Upon arriving at the daycare, Thurston disengaged the van’s safety alarm before removing the children from the vehicle. Noah was left inside.
On Aug. 30, the medical examiner determined Noah died from hyperthermia as a result of being left inside the van unsupervised for an extended period of time.
Thurston has been booked into the BSO Main Jail.
The investigation continues.
