Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 63-year-old man who on Saturday entered the water at Pioneer Park in Deerfield Beach.

Just before 5:40 p.m. Aug. 25, Regional Communications received a call that a man was in distress in the water at 217 N.E. Fifth Ave. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. A BSO diver rescued Knowlton Strachan and he was transported to Broward Health North where the Deerfield Beach man was pronounced dead.
