It is a personal battle now, says Sheriff Tony, according to other media sources.
The ongoing battle because of the cancellation of services with the City of Deerfield Beach and their police and fire contract has become personal. Tony, who chose not to engage with Deerfield Beach City Manager Rodney Brimlow, a former BSO District Captain. For whatever reason, Tony has unilaterally decided to charge Deerfield Beach significantly more for services than permitted by the contract between the two parties.
A deal is a deal. A contract is a contract. Deerfield Beach should and must take back its Police and Fire Rescue Department, and a Deerfield Beach Police Department and Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue are a must.
The city of Deerfield Beach has no other reasonable option other than to leave BSO and, at best, partner with a neighboring city or go it alone, as we did for decades.
