Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-Today we ate breakfast at a new deli in Boca. The family-run deli was great and top notch friendly service as well! Gary, Tammie Juliet, and Jenna Bell have great food and super friendly staff! Located in the Garden Shops at 7036 West Palmetto Park Road in what was originally Khaki’s for you old timers. I first met Gary Bell and his beautiful wife, Tammie, when they took over NY Deli in Fort Lauderdale.ary (who’s a direct descendant of the family that began Hebrew National products many years ago) turned that deli into the best in South Florida before selling it two years ago. After his many fans missed his deli magic for so long, they now can see he’s back with JJ’s, and it’s a 5-star restaurant/deli all the way. Gary’s still running around making sure all of his guests are being taken care of, the platters and plates of amazing-looking food are still crisscrossing the floor in the hands of the friendly servers, and it’s still a happy place to relax and enjoy great food. JJ’s will be a huge hit, for sure.
Because it’s so new, I can only describe what I’ve actually enjoyed so far. The Reuben was toasted perfectly, with a huge amount of the tender and flavorful corned beef that Gary’s staff prepares from scratch. It’s a great Reuben. I had it with perfectly cooked and crispy potato latkes, 1/2 sour pickles, and flavorful and tender homemade potato salad. My wife had the lobster roll, and we shared it all. I can report that I’ve had lobster rolls in quite a few high-end restaurants, and JJ’s lobster roll is unquestionably as good as it gets. Highly recommended.
JJ’s is already drawing a pretty big lunch crowd. There are about 50 seats inside, and another 40 or so on the attractive patio. Delis are my favorite restaurants to eat in and report on, and now Gary Bell has taken it to another level by offering best-in-class deli with equally great non-deli offerings. It’s a 40-minute shlep for me to get to JJ’s from my place in Fort Lauderdale, but I plan to be there often. And believe me, it’s worth it!
