Description of Incident

SkipDetectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Friday, April 17, in Parkland.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2025 BMX X1 was initially fleeing from Sunrise Police Department in reference to an incident that occurred in their jurisdiction.

Investigators say due to the suspect’s vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed, in the area of Nob Hill Road and Loxahatchee Road, the officer lost sight of the BMW. While looking for the suspect’s vehicle at the roundabout/T-intersection, the officer noticed the BMW was in the canal on the north side of Loxahatchee Road. A short time later, Anthony Davis was arrested by Sunrise Police Department.

Detectives say Jerome Turner and Kelby Broward-Richardson could not be located, and at that time, it was unknown if they were still in the canal or fled the scene on foot. Throughout the day, BSO Aviation, BSO K-9, BSO Drone units and the BSO Dive Team responded to the scene in an effort to locate both occupants. The search efforts were met with negative results at the time.

Investigators say, later that evening, both occupants were located deceased in the canal by BSO Dive Team.

Investigators say excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor to this crash. The investigation into the crash continues.

Any questions about the law enforcement investigation regarding the incident prior to the crash should be directed to the Sunrise Police Department.
