“The Broward Sheriff’s Office is proud of its 35-year relationship with the City of Deerfield Beach and the high-quality public safety service we have provided to residents, businesses and visitors. Despite being presented with facts and deficiencies in its flawed feasibility study, members of the City Commission voted not to renew its contract with BSO. The Commission also ignored the voice of the people, which was consistent with an independent poll indicating 75% of Deerfield Beach voters supported the city renewing its contract with BSO. This body rejected the advice of experienced professionals and dismissed the opportunity BSO offered to pay for a credible, data-driven transition study, ensuring the most informed decision was made for the people. Every decision must be rooted in facts, not emotion or politics. This misinformed decision poses great public safety concerns. BSO will continue to prioritize public safety over politics and serve with professionalism, integrity, and excellence that the community deserves.” – Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony
