Homicide detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are releasing surveillance video of a vehicle believed to be involved in an unsolved murder from last April in Deerfield Beach. The release comes on the heels of an increased Broward Crime Stoppers reward in the case.
At approximately 1:17 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a shooting victim at 1200 S.W. 11th Way in Deerfield Beach. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located an adult male, Bobby Abernathy II, in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. Paramedics took Abernathy to Broward Health North hospital with life-threatening injuries. Later that day, doctors pronounced Abernathy deceased.
BSO’s Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units initially responded to investigate. Following Abernathy’s death, BSO’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation.
The vehicle involved in the murder is believed to be a white or silver, newer model Nissan Rogue. The video released shows the vehicle prior to the shooting.
