Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl–In the tri-county area there have been 113 people who have died by trying to beat the Brightline train. There have been dozens of other deaths by Tri Rail and Amtrak as well as FEC freight trains from either suicide or just trying to beat the train and its gates. Being in a hurry is almost a certain death when it is a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist versus a train. Please be patient the train will pass and you can safely go on your way.

Below-is a narrative from the BSO-

In honor of National Rail Safety Week, the Broward Sheriff’s Office has joined forces with our law enforcement partners to remind pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN when approaching railroad tracks. This week, BSO’s Motor and Regional Traffic Enforcement Units will target drivers and pedestrians who are stopping on the railroad tracks, driving or walking through or around crossing arms and blocking intersections or crosswalks. We are here to educate motorists while enforcing safe roadway habits.
Remember, when you see tracks, think train.
