As part of an ongoing commitment to pedestrian safety and Vision Zero initiatives, the City of Deerfield Beach is announcing the expansion of its automated school zone speed enforcement program. Beginning January 5, 2026, new safety cameras will be active at three additional locations to better protect students, staff, and families during the school day.

The expansion includes the following school zones:

  • Quiet Waters Elementary
  • Deerfield Beach Elementary
  • Deerfield Park Elementary

Putting Safety First

Research consistently shows that speed is a primary factor in the severity of traffic accidents involving pedestrians. These cameras serve as a vital safety measure designed to encourage responsible driving habits and drastically reduce the risk of crashes in high-traffic student areas.

What Drivers Need to Know

  • Compliance: Motorists are required to adhere to posted speed limits within school zones.
  • Enforcement: The automated system will detect vehicles traveling above the permitted speed during designated school hours.
  • Goal: The program aims to change driver behavior and eliminate preventable tragedies in our neighborhoods.

The City of Deerfield Beach thanks the community for their partnership in this effort. By slowing down and remaining vigilant, we can ensure our school zones remain a safe environment for our youngest residents.
