SHOOTING OF DOG AND RICOCHET THAT INJURED A DOG OWNER WAS A JUSTIFIED SHOOTING

Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl-The incident involving a loose dog and another leashed dog, which caused a CVE resident to shoot at the dog, was not a criminal offense, says BSO.

Deerfield-News.com has received dozens of inquiries about this December 5 incident from readers that took place in MARKHAM, in Century Village.

Below is a communication from BSO Captain Adam Hofstein, Chief of the Deerfield Beach BSO District office, about the situation.

There was no criminal offense committed by any party. The situation between the two dog owners was determined to be civil in nature, and the firearm was discharged in an effort to protect other animals and humans from an animal that was actively attacking. Fortunately, this did stop the dog from aggressing and both  dogs survived their respective injuries. The dog owner was likely struck by a bullet fragment that ricocheted after going through the dog and striking the pavement.

  1. This news is completely inaccurate. I am the son of the dog owner who was shot. I’m also a police officer.

    Mo dog was “loose” despite the false narrative being pushed from “witnesses” who only witnesses the last half of the incident.

    My mother’s dog was on a harness AND a leash tied to her hip while she was sanding and painting her OWN FRONT DOOR.

    Another resident who had been asked multiple times to walk her aggressive large dog a different way walked directly by my mother’s residence with her dog on a leash.

    The lady is unable to control her large dog which pulled the leash from her hands, ran onto my mother’s property and picked up her small dog in its mouth then ran approximately 25 feet away ripping the leash from my mother and tried to kill her dog.

    For those pushing this false narrative that my mother’s dog was unleashed:

    WE HAVE THE LEASH AND THE HARNESS COVERED IN BLOOD ANR BITE MARKS.

    Do better media. All y’all ever do is publish fake news without any real details or facts

    • First of all when you say I only post FAKE NEWS I take exception with that.Second if you are a police officer send me a copy of the report from BSO that shows what they have that is different then what Captain Hofstein sent me.. My information came directly from Captain Hofstein at BSO in Deerfield Beach.I want to post what is the truth. All i can say is BSO says it was a civil matter and the description I posted was from BSO Captain Hofstein.Instead of attacking me. I am a resident of CVE my family has been here since 1974 this story is of interest as I love dogs as well.I have heard twenty versions of what happened .No one has any video available.I can and did contact BSO and reported verbatim what they told me.Again if you wish to communicate with me and show me something different then what Captain Hofstein told me I will post it.
