Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, FL- In a “Trumpesque” move, Sergeant Sheriff Gregory Tony, who has single-handedly lost 2 municipal contracts and the business of Broward County within a short period of time.
Today, again took to the internet in his ongoing battle with Broward Mayor and commissioners over the loss of Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue to Broward County, which will require Broward County Fire Rescue to perform services in Broward in place of BSFR.
Sergeant Gregory Tony CSPD
Sheriff Tony had what appears to be every Fire Chief under his present command write a letter praising Sheriff Gregory Tony. This includes Chief Masterson of BSFR Deerfield Beach.
The Broward Mayor, Mark Bogen, and the Broward Commissioners voted unanimously to remove BSO and BSFR from providing fire services to Broward County Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale Airport.
DOES THIS REALLY COUNT AS AN ENDORSEMENT WHEN ALL INVOLVED WORK FOR YOU?
The Sheriff’s Response to BSFR Statement of Confidence
I’m honored to see our veteran Fire Chiefs step forward and express confidence in my leadership. Their courage reflects the character of the men and women who lead Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
The County Commission’s decision to place Fire Rescue’s future at the center of a political fight raises serious concerns. The fire professionals who serve this community deserve to be heard, yet the members of our department were not consulted about the decision to remove Fire Rescue from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
This is what honor and leadership look like: standing up for the people, the department, and the public safety system they helped build. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue is one of the finest fire departments in Florida, and its members deserve respect.
We will not be intimidated or silenced. We will stand together and defend the people and institutions we serve.
