SHERIFF TONY RESPONDS TO IUPA UNION VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE

Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-In the ongoing saga of the deputies union vs Tony, the sheriff responds. The unions leader has accused BSO Sheriff Tony of failing to supply deputies with adequate PPE during the coronavirus crisis.

Sheriff Gregory Tony’s response to the IUPA Local 6020 vote:

“The command staff and I have worked tirelessly to keep all the men and women of BSO safe during this unprecedented pandemic. We have established procedures to limit exposure to COVID-19 in all areas of operations and have worked to give all of the BSO family the necessary tools to protect themselves as we continue to protect the community,” Sheriff Gregory Tony said. “I want to say to the deputies, I hear your concerns. Following today’s vote, my commitment is unwavering and our mission remains clear. It’s time to unite and work together to continue providing the highest level of professional public safety services to our Broward County community.”

Background:

IUPA Local 6020 is one of seven unions, which represents 1,406 of the more than 5,600 Broward Sheriff’s Office employees. Approximately, 786 of the members of the bargaining unit (deputies and sergeants) participated in the union vote. Less than half of the members voted no confidence.
