ADIOS, Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue: Sheriff Gregory Tony is out of the Fire  Rescue business as of 2028.

No More Fire Rescue For You!

The news is even worse for Broward County Sheriff Tony, who, by virtue of the Mayor and County Commissioners’ recent vote, will lose what is now Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue. As of 2028, all firefighters now working for the Sheriff will, if they continue, be under the control and authority of the Broward County Mayor and Commission. They will reform “Broward County Fire Rescue”, which transferred services to BSFR in 2003. So not only did Sheriff Tony lose Pembroke Park and Deerfield Beach recently as contract cities, but he has now lost Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue completely.

So all those empty promises he made on video and on his YouTube channel, promising everyone a position, well, that will not happen as far as Fire Rescue goes.

In essence, Broward County Sheriff Tony is out of the Fire Rescue business come 2028. What was BSFR will become “Broward County Fire Rescue” under the direct control of the Broward Mayor and Commission. Whether the contract cities stay remains to be seen; they have time to decide their future: stay with the reformed Broward County Fire Rescue, partner with another city, or go on their own.
