Whether you are driving, walking, biking or riding near a railroad track, one moment of awareness can make all the difference.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Brightline and its community partners, will join forces for national See Tracks? Think Train® Week (formerly Rail Safety Week), observed Monday, Sept. 21, through Sunday, Sept. 27. Together, they will host a joint news conference focused on raising railroad safety awareness, encouraging safe choices around railroad tracks and discussing ways to prevent avoidable railroad tragedies.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, near the 3600 block of Northeast 12th Avenue in Oakland Park.

As national See Tracks? Think Train® Week approaches, BSO reminds the traveling public that staying alert around railroad tracks can save lives. Always stop, look and listen before crossing a track, never go around a lowered railroad crossing arm, and never ever underestimate the speed of an approaching train.
