Shortly before 12 p.m., on Saturday, June 6, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a vehicle versus a tree crash near the 500 block of East Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. According to investigators, the driver involved in crash then carjacked a passerby following the initial collision and fled the scene. Investigators say the driver then abandoned the stolen vehicle at a nearby fast-food restaurant. He was later located at a gas station, where he refused commands to surrender and became combative with the on scene deputies. The subject was subsequently taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect arrested is Cory Coddington, DOB 9/6/1979. He faces the charges below:
1. AGG ASSAULTW/ DEADLY WEAPON WITHOUT INTENT TO KILL
2. CARJACKING WITHOUT FIREARM OR WEAPON
3. RESIST OFFICER-OBSTRUCT WITH VIOLENCE
4. BATTERY ON OFFICER, FIREFIGHTER, EMT ETC.
5. BATTERY ON OFFICER, FIREFIGHTER, EMT ETC.

7. PETIT THEFT-2ND DEGREE – 1ST OFFENSE
