Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, FL-In an industry that has almost become obsolete as a result of the internet and digital news. Advertising sales in major newspapers nationwide are down. Google has become the world’s largest seller of digital ads with its “AdWords” program for online advertising.

Century Village East in Deerfield Beach finds itself in the middle of the battle of the newspaper wars!

The CVE Reporter, published by Century Village’s COOCVE/CenClub and dubbed “The official Newspaper of Century Village East”, now has a direct competitor.

The CVE Village VOX, published by resident Karen Shelly, has hit the shelves, so to speak, of the 8500-unit complex. The new kid on the block has caused a “Stir” or a “Muck a Muck” among CVE residents and, apparently, management at the CVE Reporter.

The CVE Reporter quickly went to press and, for the first time, has printed an edition in July. Editor Elliott Cohen, in this summer edition, tries to explain why they went to press.

While we have no dog in this fight, as Deerfield Beach’s first online hyper-local news website, we at Deerfield News.com are watching the battle between the newspapers.

However, I must note that the CVE Reporter, in their haste, has listed Bill Ganz as the mayor and a contributor, and Bernie Parness as a city commissioner and contributor. Parness is a former city commissioner. Bill Ganz is the former Mayor.

While they may still be contributing, neither one is the Mayor or Commissioner and has not been for months.

Our Mayor is Todd Drosky, and the Commissioner for CVE and the surrounding area is Daniel Shanetzky.
