I have BSO’s payroll files. 5,318 active employees, every dollar, 2024 and 2025. STAN and I sifted thru nearly 3,000 pages of raw data.
Sheriff Tony ranks 25th on his own payroll. Twenty-four of his employees out-earn the man who signs the checks.
The median Broward household brings in about $80K/yr. The top-billing sergeant equals five and a half of your households. He grossed $802,146.16 in the last 24 months, and the 2026 file will carry him past a million. Ten years of your house’s work, done in two.
He is not alone up there. Eight of the ten highest-paid people at BSO work in the jail.

See that take-home cruiser in your neighbor’s driveway? Free gas. Free maintenance. Free tires. And yes, Bob Barker, throw in the free car wash. You and I, dear silly taxpayer, bought the soap.
Deep six figures in salary, and we pay to have their free car washed for free.
That’s some bullshit, right there.
And that’s before the brass. The 222 people at captain or above cost $45 million a year. For scale: Deerfield Beach’s entire BSO contract, cops, fire trucks, the whole show, runs about $75 million. The supervisors alone cost 60 percent of that.
I am not accusing one soul on this payroll of corruption. Corruption would be the comforting version. The scarier version is that every dollar of this is legit. A legalized grift. Fully above board. That is the scam.
