Description of Incident

SkipA pedestrian is dead following a crash in Pompano Beach, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating.

According to detectives, at approximately 8:49 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of West Sample Road and Northwest Fifth Terrace in Pompano Beach. The preliminary information revealed that a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Keith Reid, was traveling eastbound on West Sample Road approaching Northwest Fifth Terrace when a pedestrian, Youseline Simonvil, entered the driver’s path and was struck.

On scene, paramedics with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Simonvil dead. The driver of the truck remained on scene and cooperated with detectives.
