Deerfield Beach has been served with “Divorce Papers.” Sheriff Gregory Tony served them to our city. The official contract for services for police and fire services will terminate on 9-30-2025. The Sheriff will be under obligation to continue to provide services for up to TWO YEARS from 9-30-2025.
Deerfield Beach has all the time and the money to form our own Police Department and Fire Rescue Department again. Bringing back the Deerfield Beach Police and Fire Rescue Departments and our own dispatchers all located in Deerfield Beach, has tremendous advantages for Deerfield Beach residents.
Deerfield Beach residents, I urge you to call or email your City Commissioner and Mayor Drosky and let them know your opinion on this very important subject.
Deerfield Beach residents, this issue appears that it will be voted on in the not to distant future. Deerfield Beach can not negotiate with Sheriff Tony if he will not meet with Rodney Brimlow, our City Manager.
This is a fight Sheriff Tony initiated. We have a contract it is set to expire in 2026 that would be the correct time to modify it as opposed to unilaterally wanting to change a contract.
A contract is a contract, and a deal is a deal.
One would think that the person in charge of our, Courthouse and Jails and Police and Fire Rescue services would know that and honor that.
For that reason alone we should never be held hostage or put into a disadvantageous position with Sheriff Gregory Tony or any future Sheriff.
Time to Bring Them Home to Deerfield Beach!
