Days after receiving a tip from investigators with the United Parcel Service (UPS), Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a UPS employee for stealing dozens of iPhones and other electronics.
On Oct. 2, UPS notified BSO’s Strategic Investigations Division detectives of an employee, Brandon St. Gerard, who was suspected of stealing merchandise over recent months. St. Gerard was suspected of hiding the merchandise in its Hollywood facility and then retrieving the items and placing them into his vehicle when he left work.
On Oct. 3, BSO detectives conducted surveillance on the location and conducted a traffic stop on St. Gerard’s vehicle after he ran a stop sign when he departed the location. Inside St. Gerard’s vehicle, detectives located dozens of iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max smartphones, several Airpods, an Apple Watch and numerous other smartphones and electronics. The photos above show the boxes recovered from St. Grerard’s vehicle. The total value of the items stolen is more than $67,000.
Detectives say St. Gerard confessed to the crime, and the investigation into St. Gerard’s criminal activity is active and ongoing. Detectives arrested St. Gerard on charges of grand theft over $20,000 and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
