Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-Contrary to many Facebook posts I take no joy in reporting about local small businesses that get shut down for bad inspections. The cleanliness of local eateries or lack thereof is on the owner/operator of the business. I wish I only had no violation inspections to report on. Like I said in my original post an orange sticker from the DBPR for a closure is never usually a good sign.
I have been a customer of Dandee since they opened in Deerfield Beach and patronized Tim Horton’s before them. The reason I could not find the report from the DBPR is they were in the middle of taking over inspections and licensing of Dandee from The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Below is an email from the DBPR Director of Communications about the Dandee Donuts closure.

Thank you for your patience as we looked further into this for you.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) initiated a request to transfer regulating authority for the Dandee Donuts Deerfield location to DBPR on March 6, 2024.
Transfer requests are initiated by FDACS when a food service establishment exceeds the food preparation and service allowances under FDACS’ authority and are a regular occurrence as businesses grow and expand their services.
Once a transfer request to DBPR is initiated, DBPR conducts a preliminary inspection of the establishment to verify and observe their food processes and to confirm DBPR as the appropriate regulating authority. Once verified, staff provide information on the appropriate application and requirements to obtain a DBPR food service license.
During DBPR’s preliminary inspection at Dandee Donuts on March 7, 2024, evidence of vermin activity was observed, and the establishment was issued an Administrative Complaint and Administrative Determination, which is a closure for a food service not currently licensed by DBPR, but that falls under DBPR authority.
Until Dandee Donuts complies with the violations cited by DBPR on March 7, and obtains a DBPR food service license, the establishment remains permitted by FDACS.
