The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Pompano Beach last Friday.
The hit-and-run occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, near the 3300 block of West Atlantic Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the center thru lane when it struck an adult female pedestrian and fled. Detectives say the pedestrian attempted to cross West Atlantic Boulevard in an undesignated crosswalk area.
BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded, and paramedics transported the victim to Broward Health North with life-threatening injuries. The adult female, who has yet to be identified, was later pronounced deceased at 10:18 a.m.
According to investigators, vehicle parts located at the scene of the crash indicate the hit-and-run vehicle is a 2003 to 2007 dark-colored Honda Accord. The car should have damage to the driver side front bumper, headlight, fender and hood. The vehicle should also be missing the driver side mirror.
