Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach,Fl-Broward County Superintendent Robert Runcie has just announced.” We do not see a realistic path” to opening every school in the county five days a week. Runcie added “We will never compromise the health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff.

Yesterday as we just reported Department of Education Commissioner Corcoran signed an “Emergency Order” the order reads as follows “All school boards and charter school governing boards must open brick and mortar schools in August at least five days per week for all students,”

Broward Teachers Union has been opposed to the schools opening and described them as a breeding ground. A recent letter from the union to Runcie asked the school district to have plans for distance learning available not to reopen the schools. Broward county schools are supposed to be in session on August 19th.

In a Tweet Runcie posted last night he said”It is up to individual school district how it reopens in the fall and we will submit a plan to FDOE. We will continue to follow the advice of our public health officials.”
