Update on armed robbery investigation
Around 9:30 am, Monday, July 23, 2018, Boca Raton Police received a report of an armed robbery at 980 N Federal Hwy. The victim on scene advised he was robbed at gunpoint of his wallet and phone in the parking lot. A witness in the area provided a good description of the suspect vehicle. An officer located the vehicle around Yamato Road and Dixie Highway. The officer continued to follow the suspect vehicle south onto Federal Highway, then east on Spanish River. Once back-up officers were in the area, a traffic stop was initiated on A1A. The vehicle did not stop and continued south at a high rate of speed turning west on Palmetto Park Road. An officer ahead of the suspect vehicle deployed stop sticks in an attempt to deflate the suspect vehicle’s tires. The suspect vehicle continued and collided with two vehicles at the intersection of Palmetto Park Road and NW 12th Avenue. Five suspects in an Acura were all transported to Delray Medical along with one person from each of the other two cars hit by the suspect vehicle.
