Deerfield-News.com-Deerfield Beach-Mayor Jean Robb who announced she is suffering from cancer will not run for Mayor of Deerfield Beach again.
Deerfield-News.com had reported earlier the Mayor had disclosed she was gravely ill with cancer.The Mayor is just finishing her Chemo Therapy and we all wish her well.
The Mayor was first elected into office in 1980 and served until 1993,then reelected again in 2013 serving her current term.Mayor Robb and her late husband Dr.Leo Robb have been fixtures in city politics and civil service since moving to Deerfield Beach.The Mayor often outspoken and controversial is well liked by most Deerfield Beach residents.Mayor Robb now 85, oversaw the greatest growth spurt in the City of Deerfield Beach history during her tenure.The Mayor was instrumental in growing our sleepy little beach town to a “destination city” with alot of commerce and a population of over 75000 today.
Deerfield Beach holds elections this March,already some challenges are being made by newcomer Democratic Club Party President Bernie Parness is challenging incumbent Vice Mayor Rosenzweig.As of today we have not received the official candidates list of who is running for Mayor,stay tuned.
