Apparently for the last couple of years MLK Day has become
” Wheels Up,Guns Down Day”
Causing a problem on South Florida’s roadways and Interstates.According to authorities it seems off road bikers and ATV drivers have taken to Florida’s roads in a protest riding their vehicles and performing wheelies and other stunts .Both Florida Highway Patrol and BSO will be out enforcing traffic laws,trying to prevent accidents.BSO Warns Bikers No Wheelies On MLK Day! Air units will be up assisting road patrol deputies and troopers to catch the motoring fools breaking the law.
This phenomena has it’s roots in a supposed First Amendment protest and riders see themselves only exercising their constitutional rights.Law enforcement however sees it differently.Law enforcement is taking the extra steps this year to notify the media and get the word out,tickets will be issued.Violating Floridas motor vehicle laws can cost riders anywhere from a $116 fine up to over a thousand dollar fine and or arrest.
Below is a media advisory sent out by Broward Sheriff Scott Israel,warning drivers the laws will be enforced.“If you’re planning on disrupting traffic or endangering the lives of yourselves or anyone else, you will be dealt with from a zero tolerance standpoint,” said Broward Sheriff Scott Israel.
