We’re pleased to announce the Original Save Our Beach From the Original Save Our Beachers.
Years ago a guy named Ron ran for city commission, lost badly, and let VoteForRon.com expire. I bought it for the price of a pitcher of swill beer and forgot I owned it. When he filed to run again, I remembered, and pointed it somewhere I won’t describe. If you were online in 2002, you can guess.
Hint, when life throws you lemons, have a party.
The response was an unhinged email, delivered in full Dr. Evil, saying I was being sued for ONE BILLION DOLLARS for stealing their name. It was a name they’d left on the curb, and I’m still waiting on the paperwork.
Now it’s 2026. A local group called the Original Save Our Beach is fighting four charter questions on the city’s November ballot. For 28 years they have defended 4.3 acres of oceanfront parking lot and called it a beach. Their site lives at lemonparty dot org.
No, sorry, I jest.
It’s bluewaffle dot org.
Anywho, I bought votesaveourbeach.com.
Why, you ask?
Well, I had twelve bucks and a desire to _______.
Sorry, Howie wants me to keep my shit on the pro level.
Anywho again.
OSOB II went full onion, a fuck you messenger riding on top of a solid message. Red parking signs are me doing their campaign in character. Boxes styled like a sample ballot are the actual fine print, with sources. Two favorites:
- Their site warns that building height caps are about to be lost. The ballot question keeps the height caps, in writing.
- Their page about “irreplaceable coastal heritage” is illustrated with a file literally named ai-generated-IMAGE.jpg.
I’ve been building websites since 1996 (Disney.com, Blockbuster.com). I intend to outrank them for their own name by Halloween.
We’re called OSOB II, the Original Save Our Beach From the Original Save Our Beachers. Roman numeral, because everyone enjoys a good deuce. We’re not a PAC, we take no donations and there are no t-shirts.
