Description of Incident

According to detectives, around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a traffic crash involving a motorcyclist and a vehicle in the 4100 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. BSO deputies responded along with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

The on-scene investigation conducted by BSO’s Traffic Homicide detectives revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Sentra, was traveling eastbound on West Hillsboro Boulevard in the left turn lane and initiated a U-turn to head westbound on West Hillsboro Boulevard. As the vehicle was turning, the motorcycle, a 2022 Suzuki GSX-R570 driven by Maxwell Patel, was traveling westbound on Hillsboro Boulevard and struck the passenger side of the Nissan. The impact caused the Nissan to flip over.

On scene, deputies located multiple patients involved in the crash. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. Paramedics transported a juvenile female who was in the Nissan to Broward Health Medical Center where, sadly, she died. The driver of the Nissan and a juvenile male passenger in the vehicle were transported to Broward Health North. Later, the juvenile male was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. Three other passengers in the Nissan – two adults and another juvenile – were taken to Broward Health Medical Center. The two surviving juveniles are listed in critical condition.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
