Description of Incident:
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Oakland Park on Saturday evening.
Just before 7 p.m., Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3600 block of Powerline Road in Oakland Park. The preliminary investigation revealed that an adult female was walking westbound across Powerline Road. As the pedestrian attempted to cross the southbound lanes, she entered the path of the Ford Fusion and was struck.
Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased. The driver of the Ford Fusion, Kevin Jones, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
