Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday morning in Deerfield Beach.
According to detectives, around 4:25 a.m. on June 2, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a single-vehicle traffic crash in the 600 block of East Sample Road in Deerfield Beach. BSO deputies responded along with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2013 BMW 328i was traveling westbound on East Sample Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rotated counterclockwise, crossed over the raised center median and entered the eastbound lanes of East Sample Road. While still rotating, the vehicle struck a concrete light pole. After rebounding off the light pole, the vehicle came to a final rest on the south sidewalk. Following the impact, the vehicle became fully engulfed with the driver inside.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced the driver deceased on scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
