The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a school threat located at: St. Coleman School, 2250 S.E. 12th Street in Pompano Beach. Public Information Officer Gerdy St. Louis is currently gathering the details. Here’s what we know so far:
Shortly before 3 p.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District deputies were notified that a threat was called into St. Coleman School in Pompano Beach. BSO deputies and detectives with BSO Threat Management Unit (TMU) responded to investigate. During the investigation, the school was placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. According to investigators, units canvassed the school and found no immediate threat. Fort Lauderdale Police Department was requested to assist with school dismissal. The lockdown has been lifted and the school was dismissed. The investigation continues. BSO reminds the public that making school threats is no joke. Under Florida law, whether it is said aloud, written in text, or posted on social media, an individual can be charged with a felony for written threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting. |
