There have been 3 deaths attributed to consuming tainted Boars head deli meats. Boars Head is sold by Deli’s across America and Publix is a huge seller of the deli and cheeses here in Florida.
This includes a pregnant woman from Minnesota suing Boar’s Head after she claims she “nearly lost her unborn child” when infected by listeria after eating the company’s deli meat sold at a Publix supermarket in Florida.The Publix in question is located in Broward County at 1700 Sheridan St. Hollywood.

At Boar’s Head Brand, we take food safety very seriously. On Friday, July 25, 2024, we initiated an immediate and voluntary recall of our Strassburger Brand Liverwurst because it had the potential to be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. At that time, we also made the decision to voluntarily recall nine additional products that were produced at our Jarratt, Virginia facility on the same production line and on the same day as the liverwurst product. This involved removing over 200,000 pounds of product from the market which was done quickly and effectively.
On Monday evening, July 29, 2024, we learned from the USDA that our Strassburger Brand Liverwurst has been linked to the national deli meat Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. Based on this new information, we took immediate and decisive action to ensure we are doing everything possible to protect public health.
Consumers who purchased the below listed recalled items on or before 7/31/24 are advised to discard them or return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.
On behalf of all of us at Boar’s Head Brand, we want to let our customers and consumers know that we deeply regret that our liverwurst products were found to be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. No words can fully express our sympathies and the sincere and deep hurt we feel for the families that have suffered losses and others who endured illness.
