Deerfield-News. com-Deerfield Beach, Fl -This post is not about bad-mouthing the homeless, or the police. This post is to raise the questions of what can be done both to help the homeless and the deputies that patrol Deerfield Beach, Now I am asking those readers who frequent the beach for their input and to post here and on our Facebook page if they have seen an influx of homeless at the beach and if they have had any negative encounters with them.
Today while filming I encountered a man who certainly appeared drunk and was drinking Presidente beers. The only reason knew they were Presidente beers was he was not throwing them in the garbage cans. The guy in the orange shirt certainly was acting a fool and was drinking beer on the beach.
When I got off the beach from taking my video he again began to talk crap to me and was bothering others including mothers with their children.
When I saw the first Deputy on patrol I stopped him and told him what I saw. Another citizen also after I spoke with the Deputy had something to say about the guy in the orange shirt to the deputy.
The deputy left his vehicle and had an interaction with the guy.
I then went to talk to the deputy again. That is when the deputy told me unless he saw him drinking and then throwing the bottles he could not do much. The deputy told me this is not a one-off but an ongoing issue where the homeless are at the beach usually arriving by the number 48 bus. I respect all citizen’s constitutional rights as did the deputy. So it seems to me the deputies’ hands are tied unless they see someone committing a crime.
What do the readers who frequent the beach have to say do we have an ongoing problem at the beach where a passerby minding their own business has to avoid this issue to protect themselves or their families?
