FHP RELEASES INFORMATION ABOUT FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OFF I-95 AND HILLSBORO EXIT RAMP

Fatal Traffic Crash: 7/28/2024

Location: Southbound Interstate 95 (State Road 9) exit ramp to the State Road 810 (Hillsboro Boulevard) within city limits of Deerfield Beach, Broward County, Florida

Vehicle 1 (V-1) – 2005 White GMC Savana 2500 Van

Persons involved:

Driver of Vehicle 1 (D-1) – 26-year-old Hispanic male from Deerfield Beach, Florida (Fatal injuries) (NOK done to the mother)

V-1 was traveling southbound upon the exit ramp to the State Road 810 (Hillsboro Boulevard). As the roadway curved west, D-1 failed to negotiate the curve, and V-1 continued traveling south. V-1 became airborne as it traveled in a southwesterly direction into the ditch and began to overturn. V-1 collided into the fence and continued to rollover. D-1 was ejected. V-1 landed on its wheel submerged into the canal water, facing north.

D-1 was pronounced deceased on scene at 7:25AM by David Harris BSO, second on scene.

This is still an on-going investigation.
