Description of Incident:
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Threat Management Unit (TMU) arrested a Broward County jail inmate on Thursday for making threats to shoot up the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale.
According to investigators, around 8 a.m. on July 11, BSO’s Real Time Crime Center was notified that an unknown person made several phone calls to Broward County Crime Stoppers stating that they planned to conduct a shooting at the courthouse. TMU detectives responded to the courthouse and began an investigation with BSO’s courthouse deputies.
Through the investigation, it was learned that the threats emanated from BSO’s North Broward Bureau. Detectives were able to determine that an inmate, Scott Clark, made the threats. During an interview with detectives, Scott confessed to making the threats.
Clark, who has been in custody since his arrest in May by BSO Tamarac District deputies for charges including grand theft auto and burglary, was add charged with making a false report concerning planting a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner.
