Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Responds to Juvenile in Distress on Roof During Volunteer Work
Deerfield Beach, FL — This evening, just before 4:30 PM, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call in the 200 block of SW 8th Terrace in Deerfield Beach. A 15-year-old volunteer was assisting a neighbor with roof repairs when he became overworked and unable to safely descend from the roof on his own.
Upon receiving the call, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and used a ladder to assist the young man from the roof. The teenager, who was experiencing symptoms of dehydration, was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical care.
The Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue urges all residents to take necessary precautions such as staying hydrated and limiting exposure to high-heat conditions to avoid overexertion, especially during the middle of the day.
