The City of Deerfield Beach is excited to announce upcoming improvements to the iconic International Fishing Pier. To ensure the pier remains a world-class fishing and sightseeing destination for generations to come, the pier will undergo a series of structural repairs and renovations. To complete this significant makeover, the pier will require closure to the public for an estimated 14-18 months. Therefore, the pier and adjacent parking lot, which will operate as a staging area, will close beginning June 3, 2024.

While initial assessments identified the need for repairs, a more thorough inspection revealed structural damage that was more extensive than originally reported. Following that comprehensive inspection, City officials decided to take this opportunity to invest in significant improvements that go beyond the repairs.

The renovations will encompass:

• Essential Structural Repairs: Addressing the damage and ensuring the pier’s long-term integrity.
• Enhanced Amenities: Upgrading the pier with new railings, lighting, two new pavilions for shade and gathering space, improved fish-cutting stations, informative signage, modern decking, and public art.
