DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE FATAL SINGLE-VEHICLE  CRASH IN POMPANO BEACH

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday, Jan. 20, in Pompano Beach.

At approximately 2:06 a.m., that morning, BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fatal

single-vehicle crash near South Dixie Highway and McNab Road in Pompano Beach.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jose Carachure was driving a 2015 Lexus traveling southbound on South Dixie Highway approaching McNab Road when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle. According to detectives, the Lexus departed the roadway just north of McNab Road and mounted the sidewalk on the westside of South Dixie Highway.

The Lexus continued across McNab Road towards the southwest corner of the intersection. Then, the Lexus traveled through a chain link fence surrounding a building under construction and came to a final rest after striking the building. Paramedics transported Carachure to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators say, at this time, excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor to this crash. The investigation continues.
